And Thursday morning Nelson's obituary, posted on the Plinton Curry Funeral Home website, further painted a picture of a man with a deep seated passion for enhancing the lives of young people, both academically and socially, while also providing distinguished service to his country as a member of the U.S. Army Reserves. Nelson, 44, of Plainfield died Monday after donating bone marrow in an effort to save the life of a 14-year-old boy in France who he did not know — the ultimate example of one of Nelson's selfless acts. His funeral will be held 11 a.m. April 16 at St. John Baptist Church, 2387 Morse Ave., Scotch Plains. The viewing will be held 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. April 15 at the St. John Baptist Church, 2387 Morse Ave., Scotch Plains and 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. April 16 at the church before the funeral service. Veronica was born on July 30, 1927 in Carthage, New York, a daughter to the late Paul and Louise (Mono) Wormwood. She attended Carthage Central School and went on to work as a machine operator for Lolley’s Manufacturing Company as well as Crown Zellerbach in Carthage. On March 24, 1962 Veronica married Lawrence E. Fuller. Lawrence passed away on September 8, 2010. Veronica enjoyed playing bingo. She also played in a professional country music band for a time. She is survived by her children, Barbara Guyette of Myrtle Beach, SC; Paul (Sharon) Fuller of Carthage, NY; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.She is predeceased by her husband, Lawrence; a son, Clarence “Sonny” Pickering; a daughter, Julie Farney; and three brothers, Paul Wormwood Jr., Edward Wormwood, and Nelson Wormwood. Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 6, 2019 from 1-4 PM at Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 12:00 PM in Fairview Cemetery with Roger Mono officiating.
